2011 MLB schedule marks significant change

Major League Baseball released a tentative 2011 schedule and it included a major change that will drastically impact both the beginning and the end of the season. It starts on a Thursday and it ends on a Wednesday. Opening Thursday actually takes place in March, no less, after a shortened Spring Training season. This change comes in an effort by the league to avoid playing a World Series in November as not only has the season seemingly gone longer and longer each year, it’s also just really cold.
